vegetable candy

My dear friend gave me an early birthday present: handmade pressed vegetable papers. I cannot think of a more perfect gift. The sheer beauty of this vegetable eye candy will will nourish your senses. These breathtaking papers from hiromi papers are made from sliced cucumbers,

and pink radishes.

I was so jazzed by them that I made an edible version, with juicy lemon and orange for added flavor.

Process

Slice the radish into paper-thin rounds. Use a sponge to clean your board well each time you change ingredients.

Slice the cucumber into similarly thin discs. Slice with focus and deliberation: there is nothing wishy-washy about slicing vegetables this thin.

Slice the carrot into paper-thin coin shapes.

Cut the lemon and the orange into see-through thin slices.

Arrange it all on a plate. Now eat this vegetable candy up!

Icing on the Cake: Testimonials

The food was creative, delicious and healthy. We learned the correct and efficient ways to cook and prepare a variety of foods. In addition, she taught us how to maximize the nutritional value of each vegetable. Another bonus to this class is how beautifully she interjected the spiritual aspects of each ingredient. She surprised us with personal touches to make my birthday more festive.
